Get to know me!
Let me introduce myself... my name is Shannon Johnson. I am currently 33 years old and married to my amazing partner, Luke. Together we have 5 beautiful kids. (Thane 12, Audrey 11, Addison 10, Holden 8 and Tyler 8). I am an animal lover through and through. I completed 2 years of vet school before I had my first son. I became a mother at the age of 20 and had what I would call a traumatic pregnancy and birth. I was so young and had no idea what to expect as most new mothers don't anticipate how intense pregnancy and labor can be. Even though it was traumatic, I was a new mother and so in love with my new son. Second time around I did a lot of research on how to better have support and know how my ideal labor would go. Game changer! My second birth was magical and exactly how I would've dreamt it up. After having such different experiences, my heart started pulling me to become a Doula to help women and empower them. I want to help women see the beauty and strength their body can provide and how great the pregnancy birthing experience can be with the right support system. Let me assist you in having that incredible and empowering experience and support.

What is a Birth Doula?
A birth Doula is basically a walking birth plan. We are here to assist and advocate for the mother and the family. Tending to your every need and want. If things cannot go as planned, we are here to help guide you on the next steps to take and recommend things to make transitioning to new plans easier. My wish is to help make this an intimate experience about you and your spouse (if applicable) and about what the next chapter in your life holds with your new bundle of joy.
Services
Birth Doula Services
My Doula services are a flat rate fee. The fee covers my care for you from our date of contract signing through our postpartum visit. I strive to serve you the best I can, however childbirth is not predictable. Should something arise during labor, there are no refunds if it is a short birth or a c-section (planned or emergency). There is also no extra charge should it be a long labor.
What happens when you hire Next Chapter Birth Services as your birth doula?
☆ I will provide you with the following services:
- Phone/text/email support from date contract signing through our final postpartum visit
- Informational packet with brochures
- Access to my birthing books, rebozos, massage tools, birthing and peanut balls and resources
- Birthing plan and questionnaire
- 1-2 prenatal visits (typically 1-2 hours)
- 1-2 postnatal visits (1-2 hours)
- Backup doula assistance if needed
- I will arrive approximately 1 to 1.5 hours from the time you request my support in childbirth
- Breastfeeding and emotional support immediately following birth
